Lot sizes will be changing in the new zoning code. The new code has two options for lot sizes, conventional and conservation. The conservation option cuts the old lot sizes nearly in half across the board for residential districts.
The city released its new zoning code for public comment this week. We are reading the new code cover to cover and write about what we find. Today is Day 2, we’re reading through Chapter 1, legal definitions and provisions.
The city released its review draft of the unified development ordinance aka zoning code Wednesday. Join us as we read through the entire document over the next eight weeks and try to understand what’s in the laws that will govern development in Raleigh for decades.
Raleigh City Planning Manager Christine Darges is responsible for overseeing the team that has been updating, revising and publicizing the new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The first draft of the UDO will be released April 6. The Record chatted with Darges to break down the confusing UDO and find out how will it affect Raleigh denizens.
