Good news for train fans: the New York Times reports that Amtrak will be buying new trains for the Northeast corridor, replacing some older models. The new ones can run up to 160 miles per hour. To actually travel that fast, they will have to update the tracks as well, so don’t get too excited just yet. That section of rail is the country’s busiest, so it makes sense. But as City Lab recently pointed out, there are other problems with rail in America. What do you think?
