Excerpt from the listener email we read at the start of the show:
“During the first episode, I heard the word ‘transit’ used synonymously with ‘transportation.’ It’s just semantics, but in the transportation planning and engineering industry, transit refers solely to buses, subways, light rail, streetcar, etc. Transit is a public service that moves many people. Transportation, on the other hand, encompasses all modes of travel including transit, and I think transportation is really the theme of your podcast instead of just transit. Raleigh’s most recent transportation bond (2013) funded roadway improvements which included street widenings, sidewalks, bike lanes, and streetscaping. However, the upcoming transit bond, if passed, will solely generate revenue for bus service and bus stop improvements. It’s a minor detail, but an important one.”
Thanks again, Trung, for helping us with that!
