Last week, my husband and I were driving from the Dallas airport to his mother’s house south of the city, and we were hungry. Mmmmm, I thought, imagining something interesting, light, healthy and suitable for take out.
That’s when I spotted eatZi’s easygoing gourmet. They describe themselves as true European market style. What we noticed was the artisan breads baking, the array of wines, cheeses, roasted vegetables, charcuterie, salads… Everything was fabulous for take out for one — to a party for twenty. If you wanted to grab an hors d’oeuvre to share with your spouse or pick up a dinner for out of town guests, it was eatZi.
This is what I picture living Downtown Raleigh. Join me in savoring it. Add any details your taste buds want. But let’s set the intention for them to build it. We will definitely come!
Did you notice the big parking lot in front of eatzi"s?? That’s what’s missing in downtown Raleigh! Believe me, I have tried to find a space downtown for something similar. I love eatzi’s too! Would definitely work in the old Seaboard grocery space, but that space is really expensive, so it would need to be a national chain. And that’s still not exactly in downtown.
But I’m behind you all the way! That place is great and I would stop there many nights on my way home from work.
