Due to weather in the Port City, Councilors are moving their two-day retreat from Wilmington to the Raleigh Convention Center.
Spearheaded by the North Carolina Solar Center, the Solarize Raleigh program is designed as a way of lowering the costs for and increasing the participation in residential solar energy installations across the city. But some in the solar industry are concerned it may do more harm than good.
The PROP, a program which holds landlords accountable for properties with city ordinance violations and tenants causing nuisances, has been suspended since 2011. The city attorney recently brought revisions to the Council table that will bring the law in line with state law.
Raleigh City Council members recently approved a contract with a planning and design firm to create the City’s new downtown plan. The City, in partnership with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, will pay the consultant more than $340,000 to map out downtown plans for the next decade.
To handle an increase in workload, Councilors last week approved additional positions in the stormwater utility department.
