Each year the city resurfaces some of its more than 1,000 miles of streets. During that process, they also consider whether to add bicycle lanes.

This year, 16 of the streets will get a new section of bike lane. We talked to Trung Vo with the city about this process, how it works, and which lanes will soon be more bike friendly.

Note: The City Council reviewed these plans after the recording of this episode, and made some changes. Check out the N&O’s article on it. Residents of the Glen Eden area will continue to park despite the bike lanes and Spruce Tree Way from Falls of Neuse Road to Wakefield Pines Drive in North Raleigh was removed from the bike lane list.
